What is BroadSat?

Broadsat is Broadlink’s own VSAT platform offering a business satellite access service that is optimised to provide a two-way communication circuit from an on-premise earth station at the customer site to the Broadlink teleport facility located in Teraco, Johannesburg.

Who should use it?

This service is primarily targeted at companies with remote branches, where traditional terrestrial services and wireless technologies are not available as well as for connectivity requirements in Africa. The VSAT link operates an extension of Broadlink’s layer 2 networks, connecting these sites back to our core.

How does it work?

The Broadlink VSAT solution is a multidimensional satellite access platform utilising two VSAT hub architectures and two communication satellites. It incorporates iDirect star access solution platforms to provide Ku-Band satellite communication services throughout Southern and Western Africa

Broadsat services are delivered via our own hub located at Teraco in Isando, which not only allows us to provide last-mile VSAT services to our customers but they will also benefit from easy access to the Teraco Data Centre and the ability to interconnect with any of the major network operators located there.

There are 3 VSAT service offerings; Enterprise, Broadband and Continuity services, catering for a range of business requirements, applications and uses.
